Centerplace adding Best Buy, Sports Authority next year, an article from The Greeley Tribune, reports that developers who own the Centerplace shopping center plan to add Best Buy and Sports Authority to the development in time for next year's holiday shopping season. Included on the site will also be a health club and other retail stores. The development is planned to be located at an undeveloped site east of Target and Kohl's at the 47th Avenue and U.S. 34 Bypass. Eliminating 'Phantom Tax' on Foreclosures Gets a Boost, an article from Realtor Magazine Online, reports that the House Ways and Means Committee voted to change a law that forces home owners to pay an income tax on mortgages that have been forgiven or foreclosed. NAT President Pat V. Combs says, "Changing the IRS code for these situations will relieve a tax burden for families who are already in financial distress and are most likely unable to pay additional taxes." NAR has pursued repealing the "phantom tax" law since the early 1990s. The legislation also includes a provision to safeguard against abuses.
