Are you learning another language either for fun or for business?

Here is a fun tip.

Start with children's books. You can find them at your local library or bookstore.

I am always working on my Spanish for Latin America and I really enjoy the dual language books with everything in Spanish and English (usually side-by-side pages).

I have also found very basic books in Spanish are a great way to relax for just a minute and still learn something.

Gary I spend a couple of years in Mexico with my adopted family. I met the the girls at a boarding school we went to in high school. They learned English and spent time with my family on holidays. Then I went down there.....ahd learned spanish mainly from the younger kids (not the teens that made fun of me!!) and watching comics in spanish. Sure wish I had kept up with it.......good for you fo making it happen!

What a great idea! Sometimes I have fun trying to figure out labels on bottles but this sounds much more "user friendly"!

Bob - I would love to, but I swear as I get older, it's so much harder to learn a new language! Before going to Africa, I learned a little Swahili and every time I tried to use my new skills, I got a lot of laughs from the locals - lol!

Anna, That really sounds fascinating. Watching comics on TV is something that I might try. Have you kept in touch in Mexico? I bet your experiences could make some interesting posts.

Brenda, Thank you. i also do the thing of trying to figure out labels for signs that I see.

Kristine, I think that getting older can be a challenge in learning -- maybe that's why I try so hard to find creative and lazy ways to learn.

Hi Gary, great tip, we have a bunch of tapes and courses but must admit that we find them boring, I will have to look into buying some comic and kids books

Gary, another tip, especially for Spanish is to watch the Spanish Stations on the TV, they're readily available on Satellite or cable. They will really help you after a while!

Tony & Darcy, That sounds like a great tip. I also get DVD's and will often use the subtitles in Spanish while I listen to English or subtitles in English while I listen to Spanish.
