Yesterday I got a call from a friend of mine who said his neighbor got ripped off by that large flooring place you see on TV w/ that cartoon character. She is an older customer and as you know, some places take advantage of customers like this.
My friend is in the home improvement business so he knew something was fishy and told her not to worry because I would take great care of her.
I went there this morning, and found a great carpet for her basement and sunroom one that was better quality and importantly one that would be better with her two cats that had shredded the old looped berber carpet that was there. I helped her find a great color for her room - one that went with the furniture, was neutral in color and would help hide the dirt.
She told me that she felt she was overcharged by this other company...and she was right...I found her a higher grade carpet and upgraded the carpet pad and still came in 12% lower. She told me she appreciated that I spent the time w/ her to pick out the right carpet for her needs while the other guy was quick, didn't seem to care and just wanted to make the sale. She also told me she felt very pressured.
This is not the first time I've been brought in to help a customer after this company has given them very high prices. I'm not quite sure how they get away with their advertising claiming they are lowest priced because it's clear to me they are not.
