Studies show that sellers fare better when using a Realtor®. A leading online real estate resource, HomeGain, has announced the results of its “For Sale By Owner” vs Realtor®. HomeGain connects home buyers and sellers with real estate professionals around the nation. Their results from 1,000 home owners show 17% say they tried to sell their home on their own with little success or a very slow sale. Approximately 83% used a Realtor® to sell their homes.
The homeowners that used a Realtor® were successful, reflecting a higher and faster closing rate. When asked, they also said they would use a Realtor® again to buy or sell their home.
Of the "For Sale by Owners" who managed to sell their homes on their own, only 71% said they would try and sell their homes on their own again. Therefore, the study clearly shows that it is significantly better for home owners to use a Realtor® due to the success of using their services. Also pointed out in the survey is that 24% of the FSBOs ended up enlisting the aid of a Realtor® to help sell their homes.
