Are You Having Fun Yet?

Because the effects of marketing are a long-term building process, most people get impatient and their marketing efforts become basically an afterthought.

Are you having fun with your marketing?  If you’re not, take time to reassess what it is that you do for a living and the impact you can have on people.   Not just through your work, but how you go about your work.  How you interact with people.

Ironically, it’s often the things that have nothing to do with the actual job at hand that determine how people actually remember you.   Does the plate, bag or box that you get your food in really make a difference?   Tangibly, no.  However, you tend to feel a lot differently about the same steak if it’s served on fine china rather than on a diner plate.

Here in the Lancaster, PA area where I live, there’s a hot dog restaurant that has quickly gained a nice reputation.  They get creative with their dogs…chili, jalapenos, salsa, cheese, tortilla chips, swiss cheese, strawberry preserves…it’s really quite unbelievable the variety they have.  Steamed poppy seed buns, too.

I went there with my web development and webdesign friends from MIND Development and Design for lunch yesterday and, as much as I love the food, what really knocked me over was the eat-in dishes.

You can get your meal served in a special dog dish.  My first thought was, “I’ve got to bring my kids here this summer!”   The two ladies at a table with their happy kids eating out of their dog dishes validated that thought. lol

Now THAT’S having fun with your marketing.  That’s a fun hook!  What can you do in your own marketing that will leave a memorable, lasting imprint on your prospects and clients?  It's not as easy in real estate, but the opportunity is there with each one of us.  It doesn't have to be the funniest, the cutest nor the most clever.  I just has to be a part of you that will connect with people.
