Like I mentioned in my previous blog, the area around Camp Lejeune offers plenty of townhomes, large and small, expensive and more affordable.
Today I would like to elaborate a little more on the cost of buying versus renting, especially when you look at a low maintenance townhome or smaller single family home in the Camp Lejeune area.
At current low interest rates, it is safe to say that the same monthly payment will allow you to buy at least the same size house, most likely larger, than a rental property would be around Camp Lejeune.
Of course the benefits of buying versus renting around Camp Lejeune are plentiful, from being your own boss, starting your financial independence, having any type of pet you want, to tax breaks and lastly - APPRECIATION and EQUITY!
Appreciation is your home growing in value. You may have bought your Camp Lejeune home for $100,000 but today it may be worth $110,000. It has appreciated $10,000 in value. That is why real estate is such a great investment, especially in the Camp Lejeune area!
Equity is the difference of what you owe on your home versus what it is worth. If you bought your home for $100,000 and paid it down to $90,000, then sold it for $130,000, you had $40,000 equity. You can also take out that equity in the form of a 2nd loan.
But this is only one of the many benefits of owning a home around Camp Lejeune! What many people don't realize is that the actual cost of getting into a rental property in the Camp Lejeune area is much higher than the cost of buying a home! So stop throwing away your money! If you qualify to rent in the Camp Lejeune area, you most likely qualify to buy!!!
Stay tuned to get a breakdown of the actual costs! Until then, check out this great calculator to see the real cost of renting versus buying!
