Great Blogging lessons from ActiveRain orientation. Kudo's to Steven Graham at ActiveRain for the awesome ideas on blogging. He emphasized the 4 pillars of your blog:

1. Write blog posts that answer questions of your customers. This will save you time. By posting it, you can refer back to it rather than keep having to answer it. For example at OneGuard, I get asked all the time what pre-existing conditions are. So I would blog the answer.

2. Be the Mayor of your industry. Regarding Real Estate, really know your area.

3. Write content for your peers. For example, blog about upcoming events or what the mortgage changes are doing to your business, etc...

4. Blog about your hobbies. Let others know more about you.

Here are some other tips he gave: You need a proper title, repeat the title as your first sentence in the post, repeat the title 2-4 times in the post and keep it between 300-500 words. If you want some more ideas on what to blog about, check out google and yahoo trends and blog away.

I am still rather new at Active Rain and have found the blogs to be very informative and thought provoking.

I have not attended a workshop yet but am going to the Rain Camp in Atlantic City in a few weeks.
