Proud to be a Baby Boomer!

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 290581

According to the National Association of Homebuilders, the economy is causing baby boomers to become more and more practical when purchasing their next home. The Housing Trends Update for 55+ buyers show that "we" give more thought to financial concerns and our future lifestyle changes. We are seeing this trend locally as well here in  Nashville, Tn and surrounding counties. As we think ahead it is important to consider what our lifestyle is going to be a few years from now.

Baby boomers may feel it more important to live near family and friends. It becomes very important to be where you want to be and close to those who mean the most to you.

In some cases the closer you get to retirement, smaller is better instead of "bigger is better." We want something easier to maintain and easy on the budget. One of my recent baby boomer clients wanted to be free to travel and do the things they'd always dreamed of instead of working on and around a large house and yard.

A lot of baby boomers are not retiring as early, so a home close to work is still a consieration for many.

The NAHB report focuses on people living in active adult communities. This is an ideal situation for many, especially when the amenities cater to the residents. Those communitites do a good job of catering to the lifestyle of 55+. Walking trails and fitness centers are attractive to active adults like myself.

One of my goals this year is to work on getting the SRES designation offered by the Senior Real Estate Specialists Council so othat I can better aid those 55 and older like myself. I'm proud to be called a Baby Boomer. How about you?

We were hopeful here in La Quinta we would get alot of people moving here over the years. There are not many people transitioning into retirement now.

Good Points. We have 4 retirement communities here in Brentwood and the smaller models seem to sell faster.
