Priest Point Park in Olympia WA - a great waterfront park just minutes from downtown Olympia. Priest Point Park includes wooded nature trails leading down to its mile long saltwater shoreline; grassy play areas; wheelchair accessible playground structures; picnic areas; even a flower garden that has seen its share of wedding ceremonies.
The name Priest Point Park comes from its history as a mission established in the mid 1880's by Catholic missionaries. The missionaries cleared the area, planted a garden, built a chapel and operated a school for Indian youth of nearby tribes. It also served as a trading center with the tribes. Then in 1905, the City of Olympia bought the 314 acre property, and this jewel of a city park became a favorite for local residents and visitors.
