My new favorite closing gift came from my new favorite hobby. I began oil painting a couple of months ago with a local class-- I had always wanted to begin painting, especially since my Mother had been an artist and had left me her paints, brushes and some canvases when she passed away. I feel such a special connection to her when I am using her materials to create something new.
I had only completed 2 paintings when Russel Ray suggested I do a painting of my clients new home as a closing gift. So I began last Sunday and will do some more work on it this weekend. I can't think of a more perfect closing gift for my clients who have just purchased their "dream home" at La Quinta Country Club. Their family has a long tradition here at the club and this area holds many family memories. I think the painting will be a truly personal and special gift... a reminder of their new home, their special times here in the desert, and of course, their agent!
When I am finished with the painting I will have it framed and present it to them. They can take it home to Chicago and share it with family and friends there-- "check out our new place in La Quinta". Or they can keep it here and share it with their family and friends here... "Who painted that for you?" Answer: "our Realtor Kathy!"
