Amelia Gallagher, A Wonderful Woman!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with McKinney Realty Group

Amelia Gallagher, what a wonderful woman....
Amelia Gallagher
There has been so much talk about googling your name and making sure what is there is correct, etc.  That got me thinking and I googled my Mother’s name and....nothing.  In the future is that how we are going to be remembered by what some can find on the Internet about us, good or bad?

Amelia Gallagher

I am entering into account a snippet of information about the greatest woman in my Mother, Amelia Gallagher.

Amelia was born on April the 6th 1932 to Willie & Gladys in Robeson county NC.  She was given no middle name.  She grew up on a tobacco field and spent time working it to help with the family...

She was married to Paul J. Gallagher.  They met while Paul patrolled the streets of downtown Fayetteville as a military policeman, she was a waitress at a bar.  Ah the good old days...the military police had jurisdiction over the soldiers outside the gates of Ft Bragg and they had to toe the line!
Paul & Amelia Gallagher
They fell in love got married, Paul left the military to move back home to Ohio to become a State Highway Patrolman.  So they began their life together....

Amelia Gallagher had four children Rudy, Brenda, Paul & Melissa.  Cant speak for the rest but she was the most important woman in my world and always would be!  She was a stay at home Mom and was always there when the children returned from school.

She was always willing to give of herself...give the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it more than her!
Amelia Gallagher
She was my Mother, my friend, my confidant, my phone buddy, my everything..... Even though we lived in the same town and I saw her all the time, we talked on the phone sometimes ten times a day...I didn't have enough time.

Amelia Gallagher left this world on March 26th 2009...the saddest day of my life.

It says a lot about a parent, when their child considers them to be a confidant. And even more when the saddest day of your life is when she was left the world. As parents, we should all apsire to be to our children, what your mother was to you.

Melissa ~ that is a beautiful tribute to your mom. I see we have even more in common, my mom passed March 8th, 2005 a truly heartbreaking day. My Dad was a state trooper all my life until he retired & went into the service station business. Mom is all around me, in memories and pictures. I wear her wedding ring on my index finger so I can carry a little piece of her always… oh boy… tears….Hugs, beautiful post.

Melissa...sounds like you had a pretty special Mom, such a great way to honor her.  I still have both of my parents so I don't know the pain or emptiness you feel with the loss of your Mom.  You do have some wonderful memories.

Melissa, that is an awesome idea...when our kids kids go to Google their history; unless we put it there, it will be lost.

It is so hard to lose a parent...and I can tell by the way you write how much love you had for her.

Melissa, this is a lovely tribute to your Mom. I can't imagine what it will be like to loose my mother, and hopefully I won't know for many years to come. But it did hit home as to how/will remember her besides me and my children. I'm an only child, but I am fortunate my children will have lasting memories of her, for she and my father have lived with me for 12 years due to advanced age and health~It is by far the best thing I have done is to have them with me. Although they do spoil my children badly.

I'm sorry Melissa, I'm running on, like you, I think my Mother is amazing. I'm not half the woman she is and never will be, and other than tell my children stories there is no one to talk to about her. I named my daughter after her.

Thanks Melissa.

Melissa, what a wonderful tribute to a great woman!

I live 5 hours away from my mom but I do talk to her; on the phone, at least 3 times a day. I treasure every minute of our conversations. How I wish I could also stop by her house everyday, to say hi!

She is still around and I hope for still a long time. But your blog makes me appreciate her even more.

Thank you so much for sharing your memories of her, with us. I feel privilege!

Melissa - This is a very touching tribute to your mom.  You can be sure she is looking down on you and beaming with great pride.  Losing those we love is tough, but be comforted by the fact that you will be together again soon.'s okay to allow those tears to flow when you miss her.
