In the midst of all the budget woes, there's been a spot of good news for Southwest Austin residents in Lantana, Travis Country West, Covered Bridge, and Loma Vista - the city is moving forward with a $5.5 million road and traffic improvement in the oft-congested Oak Hill "Y" that connects Highways 290 and 71.
A March 3rd article in Community Impact described the changes as a redesign of traffic flow to eliminate left turns in some areas by pass-through turning lanes, median U-turn installations, and changing signal times to help reduce wait times.
The net result of the changes should reduce delays by as much as 50% during peak hours if drivers are in the flow of traffic. For more information, please read the full article here.
