Photoshop Adobe 7.0

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with The Inner Iris Photography

As a photographer I use several different photo shops for several different purposes as some are better than others at different things. I came to the realization just the other day that it might be better to consolidate and just use my Adobe program, I also came across the real problem of not being able to locate my user guide to help me do some of the more in depth edits I do with other programs. Not having just worlds of time for experimentation I want to find a helpful book for this photo shop that does more than tell you how to do the basics. I want to know the, how shall we say it, "good stuff". Do any of you tecknos out there have a helpful book that you would recommend?

Shellee, I do not know of a good book, however, I will be watching this post, as I too would like a "user friendly" book.

Shellee, what a beautiful shade of red!!

Good luck with Adobe 7.0

Adobe is a nightmare for me.  Every time I try to use it, something bad happens.   I suspect Adobe is more focused on selling software renewals and updates than providing service.

Shellee - there a number of excellent after-market manuals and books for many of the flavors and versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.  I like anything written by Scott Kelby.  Check out Amazon.com for listings.

There are also video tutorials available on DVD or on line.  I use www.lynda.com which hosts a wide range of software training programs for $25 per month for unlimited on-line access.

There are also a number of tutorials on ActiveRain to help with specific projects.

I hope this helps you

Shelle, I asked the same question a few months go.  CJ recommended Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Classroom in a Book.  I purchased it and to be quite honest have not done much with it yet.  I do think it will make a great winter time project though.  You should check CJ's blog out, she has great photography post.

Shelee,

the best advice that I can give to you is the same one that I use...

When I need something in particular, I google it, and get few different techniques.  Then I use the one that is the best fit for me...  then print the page as a PDF file and archieve it in my useful tips folder on my computer

Shellee - I would recommend doing a quick www.YouTube.com search for Photoshop.  You will be blown away at all the video demonstrations you will find.  I did the same thing when I first bought my MacBook Pro and there were so many neat little tips and examples that I learned stuff hands on without ever leaving my home.

Wow guys, I'm getting more creative and helpful suggestions than I truely hoped for!

Candy- as always I will pass the info along!

Robert- Thanks, I love plant pictures with expressive color.

Ted- Thanks for the links, I will definitely be taking your suggestions into mind. And thanks, I believe out of all portraits I enjoy doing Animals the best!

Marchel- I'll keep you updated on my findings!

Mehmet-  Google is usefull but I really want something comprehensive that has an index to look stuff up in. I'm rather lazy when it comes to hunting things down on the internet!

Sam- I never thought of you tube before, how clever you are! Thanks for the idea.

All of the Classroom in a Book Series (by Adobe) are great references.  Have you visited your local library?  I check out most books and then if I like them I add to my collection.

The library is where I would suggest going as well. You can look at a handful of books and easily tell which will be the best help for you based on your level of knowledge and the format of the book. THEN you can spend the $30-60 that some of these books cost if you still want to... or you can simply learn what you need to learn without the extra cost.

After all, your taxes buy the books anyway, you might as well use them! Most libraries will even purchase books you would like to see in inventory that they don't have, just show the librarian the amazon page and they will likely place an order for it and notify you when it arrives if they don't already have it in their system.

Must agree with the previous responses...the Classroom in a Book series is great and IMO, the best. I use Photoshop pretty much exclusively for editing photos. If I want to do a quick resize for mls or internet use, I use Paint.

You may also try half.com as well as amazon.com to find the book.

Best of luck,

Thanks Crystal, Benjamin, and Patti for your comments. And its funny that you should mention that volume of classroom book and the Library, because I did in fact order several different ones from the Library and its the only one that has come in yet. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but as soon as I do I let you all know what I think!

Shelee,

I've used one for photoshop 5, back in 1999, and since then I'm just using google.. however if you get the BIBLE for PHOTOSHOP (I don't recall the exact name), this is a nice breakdown of everything you can do...

But they are mostly for users who are learning photoshop, and it is a nice guideline of what tools you can use for what purpose

Thanks Mehmet I have poked around a bit on google but find it difficult to find some of the more in depth info that I need. I think the Library books are working so far! Adobe Classroom in a Book is giving me some good pointers so far.

That's a fun frame. It makes the man on his bucket/chair look very small.

I love Adobe Photoshop 7.  I still have it on my laptop and use it all the time.  I have Adobe CS3 on my desktop computer - where I have more RAMming speed.  :)

Shelley,

I'm fairly new to photography (probably why I spend time in this group) and I just bought Photoshop.  I definitely need a class on it because the manual, to me, is a nightmare.  I'll keep checking back to see if you get anymore great advice.
