TELLING GHOST STORIES TO INCREASE YOUR INCOME --OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty World, Executive Group

You're sound asleep when you feel someone rubbing your feet and wake up. At the foot of the bed is a little girl. She asks you if you want to play and then fades away into nothingness.

In another room guests have been awakened by the spectral figure of a large black man in old-fashioned, tattered clothing.

In 1911 Multnomah County built the poor farm. It was the home for insane paupers, the mentally ill, inmates and people who could not care for themselves .

So begins the first article in last years October newsletter. The article then goes on to tell how the poor farm was bought and turned into a hotel and how "Verne Jones, the last administrator refused the room offered to him at the new opening in 1993, because it had been the "lock up" and had "too many ghosts"."

Put Ghost Stories in Your October Newsletter

Number one rule of newsletters is they have to be absolutely fascinating and interesting, so fascinating your list can't wait to receive it each month and read it. Your newsletter has to be so compelling they cannot put it down and have to read it the moment it comes.

Telling a good ghost story about a local house or building is a great way to create that kind of curiosity and urge. People can't wait to read a great ghost story about a building they know.

Position Yourself as the Expert

Rule number two is your newsletter should position you as a LOCAL expert. Each month your newsletter should be building a case that you know more about LOCAL houses and history than any other agent and that they would be foolish to deal with anyone but you because you are the EXPERT.

What better way to build a case and subtly convince people you know more than anyone else than telling a good ghost story they haven't heard about the local area? It let's them know you know local history and real estate.

Create Buzz and Word of Mouth

Rule number three, your newsletter should get people talking. It should create buzz and word of mouth each month.

People love to hear stories about the local area. Almost everyone loves to hear about the local ghost.

People find these kind of stories so interesting they can't wait to tell someone else and that is exactly what you want them to do. You want them to tell everyone they know the story and that they heard it from you and it must be true because you know everything about the local area.

Every month your newsletter should have stories in it that people can't wait to find someone else to tell. The stories and articles in your newsletter should create that compelling urge inside of the people who read it to tell someone else.

That kind of buzz and word of mouth perfectly positions you as the local expert and person to list or sell their house.

It gets their friends to call you and request to get your newsletter because they don't want to be left out. They want to hear all the stories and get the information too.

The more you can position yourself as the local authority, prove it and get people to talk about you the more money you will make.

Telling a good ghost story about a local building in your newsletter is a great way to accomplish all these goals.
