I started my career in real estate all thanks to my mom Deb. She started in the business as a Top Producers assistant around 2003. This agent decided to start his own company in Lethbridge and my mom decided to take on the role as office manager leaving her previous position available. I won the lucky spot which ignited my passion for real estate. The funny thing is that back in college taking pre-real estate, I actually got a 63% overall mark! I thought for sure this wasn't going to be a long-term position but just something to get a little business experience. I started in April of 2004 as an unlicensed assistant at the age of 21, fresh out of college with a diploma in business management. I remember exactly what my boss told me the first day I started: First, don't put me into court or cost me $10,000. Second, fearlessly make mistakes. I want a go-getter willing to try different angles to promote my business. That was all that i needed to take his business to the roof!
That year, as his unlicensed assistant, we doubled his previous years income! The year after that, July 2005 he licensed me as his licensed assistant and we added more than $150,000 income to the 2004's total! We really had something going. I helped him design all his systems for his company and was soon promoted to Vice President of Operations Development. Quite the title to have at almost 23 years old! We came to a point that I needed to be a licensed agent. My passion for watching someone elses success began to fade and I wanted to try it for myself.
January of 2007 I started selling full time. My next blog will get you all up to date on how my first year as a Realtor has been so far.
Till then,
Kevin Turner
