Butler University - More than Basketball!

I feel compelled to highlight Butler University, since their Basketball team is making national headlines again this year after making it to the final four!

They have done something that is many would say is impossible.  They have enable IU, Purdue, Notre Dame, ISU and Ball State fans to unite in one home, church, bar or sports arena and cheer for the same team!

Butler was founded in 1855 by Ovid Butler, an attorney and abolitionist.  It sits on 290 acres in Indianapolis near northside neighborhood just 5 miles from downtown and right in the middle of a residential area known as Butler-Tarkington. It is hailed as one of the most attractive campuses in the Midwest for it's park-like setting.

Butler_campus The University offers over 65 majors and in the last 5 years it has enjoyed a 96% job placement rate for it's graduates.  The schools of education and pharmacy have a 100% placement rate.  Student to faculty ratio is 11:1.  The school has 19 varsity sports (not just basketball!) and over 140 official student organizations.

Recent Kudos:

Ranked 2nd best Regional Universities Midwest category for 2011 in US News and World Report and also the #1 Up-And-Coming institution among Regional Universities by the same publication

Named Best in the Midwest by Princeton Review

Ranked 8th in Midwest for it's part-time MBA program by BusinessWeek

Dance program is one of top five in the country

Pharmacy Licensing Exam ranks Butler in top 3 nationally

Their mission is to provide the highest quality of liberal and professional education and to integrate liberal arts with professional education, creating and fostering a stimulating intellectual community built upon dialogue and inquiry between students, faculty and staff.

AND LETS NOT FORGET THOSE DAWGS!!!! What a class act with Brad Stevens at the helm. Get out your Blue and White and cheer them on to victory!

Ann ~ great recap about Butler University....good luck to them in the Finals!  When I worked at the University of Limerick in Ireland, we had lots of students from Butler who stayed for one or two semesters.  They really enjoyed the experience of living and studying in a European country.

Thanks Maureen - It's nice to have such a great team and coach representing Indianapolis.  No matter the outcome - they are already winners to us!

Brad Stevens is awesome.  Could not believe he was really the coach and not a player the first time I saw him.  Then I heard him speak and thought what a great guy...then he takes Butler to the finals etc... What a great representation of Hoosier values...The Butler Way is real!

LOL - I thought the same thing - surely he is a student!  He is actually speaking at a Fishers Chamber of Commerce lunch on 6/8/11 that our company is sponsoring.  Can't wait!
