The weather is warming, dogwoods and azaleas are blooming and there is no doubt that Spring has arrived in Marietta, Georgia.  Celebrate the outdoor season by taking a self-guided tour around Marietta Square the first Friday of every month from now through October. You will have the opportunity to visit more than 30 merchants who will host artists in their stores during the First Friday Art Walk. Participating merchants will host in-store events and stay open until 8:00 pm in the evening.

The Strand Theatre's April Artist is Merrilyn Eastham. This one woman show is Ms. Eastham's first public showing of her art. She is a Marietta native who uses watercolor as a medium to paint landscapes, floral subjects and architectural scenes.  Her artist reception will be held at 6:00 pm on April 1st, and her works will be shown the full month of April at the Strand.

This year's First Friday Art Walk will feature Artists' Alley, which is an intimate exhibit of juried artists showing a wide variety of styles.  It will be located in warehouse space at Dupre's Antique Market, 17 Whitlock Avenue. Artists will also give demonstrations around Square. The event is held from 5-9 pm and gives you plenty of time to visit at least 15 of the participating merchants. Pick up a map at one of the participating merchants (see Art Walk Banner in the window), choose your own route, and visit 15 merchants and enter to win prizes. For more information call 770-429-1115 or visit www.mariettasquare.com

It should be perfect weather for alfresco dining at one of the Square's terrific restaurants, or for an informal picnic in Glover Park.  Celebrate Spring in Marietta!
