I mentioned it on Sunday, when I reported that it was "Make up your own holiday" day... but thought I'd mention it again for those who missed it.
Today is great day to send a quick email to friends and clients who run "Mom and Pop" businesses - telling them that it's their special day. While you're at it, you can thank them for being a part of the "backbone" that still makes this country great.
My special thanks today go to an unusual Mom and Pop business. In fact, it might be one-of-a-kind.
My friends Bill and Sally Nye are the sole proprietors (and sole employees) of a company called Nye Viking - and they make telegraph keys.
Ham radio operators use them, but for the most part, these keys are in use by our military men and women overseas. Anywhere in the world where we have troops on the ground in dangerous situations, Nye Viking keys are there too.
Nye Viking has led the field in telegraph keys for many years, and there's even one of their creations in the Smithsonian Museum!
Honor yourself today, too!
And of course - since YOU are a small business (whether you're the Mom or the Pop, or the Mom and Pop team) you need to pat yourself on the back today too.
