Why I DON'T have 2 Million Back Links

Services for Real Estate Pros with Personal SEO - Website SEO and Real Estate Marketing

There is a very sensible, logical reason I don't have 2 million back links.....

I don't have one site or one industry I focus on. If I only had one site that I could put all my energy and all my time into, it would probably be killer... but as we say in this marketing business, our sites come last. That logical shouldn't be the case because we want to gain business because of our site. We want a kick*** site because it shows what we can do, but when you are focusing on everyone eles's site and you want them to be the best, your site falls to the bottom of the list.

Speaking of, I am a list MAKER! I HAVE to have lists. Whether it be for the day, the week or just for groceries I have to have a list for everything to keep me on track and on schedule. That's not a bad thing at all. I have drawn my husband in to buying his own notepad for client notes, time lines, to do lists and more.  - Ok that was a tangent... guess that's the frame of mind I am in tonight... trying to focus on not only my lists but blogging, content and writing....

I keep ActiveRain up pretty much all day yet I don't have time to write on it. I really don't have much time to even comment but I do watch it. If there is something I find interesting I will comment and many times it prompts me to write a new blog post. I have about 20 blogs in draft mode because I don't want to loose the thought but I also don't have the time to actually write them out intelligently.

I especially watch the homepage of ActiveRain. I see what others are finding feature worthy and although I do want my articles posted there it's always the ones that I dont' feel are feature worth. I wrote a blog a while back about writers block. It was really off the cuff and impulsive and it got featured. I have written ones I wish were featured since then and they have not. Such as IF Monthly SEO Service is a Bad Idea? I realize it doesn't matter how many people suggest the thing, if the AR gods feel it's not feature worthy, it simply won't be. Not to say our 5 suggests a day are in vain but that it's not ultimately up to us who is front and center.

But I really LOVE working FOR my clients, not necessarily FOR ME. Although of course it's my job and I really do love what I do but I focus more on them then on me. Ok, you are probably saying, then why do you bother blogging? And I have to say, it's a release, a vent, a spilling out of my own words because I have written for others all day long. I love to have a spot where I can be me, share any little nonsense of my life and share how I really feel.

So I am not the top back linker on here... I think we all can guess who that might be. And I don't have that fancy of a website. (stay tuned though, it's coming) But I have clients that have killer sites with top content that rank very well. I would rather they rank well than me, if that makes any sense. I am happy for my clients when they get leads, visits and higher rankers than before we started. That's what it's all about for me.

Hi Chica, How amazing that we wrote on such similar topics tonight. My own website always comes last too. I actually took some time off last week-end and rewrote pages and updated my portfolio. Got 17 leads in 2 days from it. 3 from the UK. People, it pays to take time off now and then and revamp our sites even when we are swamped with whatever it is that we do for businesss. Our online presences is so important.

Great Post, Big Hugs, Vic

Hi Tammy,

Yes I do the same thing with leaving Active Rain up all day.  It's just nice to check in here and there.  Sometimes I just don't have anything to write, and other times I can't stop!

Yes Vic, I started this just about the same time as you did with your blog today but got side-tracked as we always do. Once of these days I will take a spare moment and spiffy up my website into the gem it really needs to be. .... Ha ha.... no seriously. I WILL! ;-)

Cindy, It IS nice to have it there, I like seeing who of my subscribers has posted and who are the star students of the day... always nice to be one of those. :)

Tammy- I think that all passionate professionals are guilty of putting the needs of their clients before their own. That's not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion- especially when your client's are happy with your result(myself included). Thanks for all the advice and knowledge you share with us here on AR. I too, have wondered why some of the articles of your I suggested didn't go on to be Featured.?.? Even if the AR Gods don't think it is Featured Post material, it sure has helped many of us out. Thanks again.

Tammy - As a copywriter, I have to say that working on my own site is much more difficult than working on my client's sites. I think it goes back to that early up-bringing that said "Don't talk about yourself."

Hey Tammy,  I'm like you, read a lot, try to share where I can.  I was working on my website just today and while I've run marketing for huge companies, building my own site seems to be much more difficult than building client sites.  Thanks for the post.....I'm glad I'm not alone out here!  ha

I also don't have millions of back links, but I would think that no single real estate agent could expect a large amount. I'm working on more, but I have to be realistic.
