How Smart is your Cell Phone?

By

How many of you remember when you had to crank the phone to get an operator that will place your call (I don't either but I've seen it in movies)?  Or when land line phones changed from the rotary to push button numbers.  I bet there isn't many of you had a home phone that shared the phone line with the neighbors.

Communications have come a long way in the last 40 years.  It wasn't long ago the cell phone weighed in at 20 pounds or more.  The cost of a call was huge and you needed two jobs just to afford making calls.

That is all in the past and now you can use your cell phone (that fits in your shirt pocket) to browse the web, send emails, text your family and search for a home.

Virtual tours are now on your smart phone, you can have a Realtor site or visit a Realtor website and view homes while having dinner with your family.  How cool is that?  If you could place a bid on a home from your cell phone that would make them perfect!

Jason. You're way to young to remember Dick Tracy, the comic book detective. He had a wrist watch that did it all.

Maybe we're still behind the curve.  Good post.

Jason,

Rub it in buddy.

I remember when my folks had a crank phone and a party line to boot. Had to ask the operator to place your call for you. I just knew all the other folks on our party line were listening to my phone call. But we never used the phone much except for emergencies.

Now the dang things have gotten out of hand and you can even submit an offer electronically.

Will miracles never cease?

I remember having a "Party Line" when I was young and the elderly neighbor always yelling for us to get off the phone so she could call her sister. Hilarious. Yes...now my phone is much smarter than a 5th grader. Almost need training to run one anymore. lol

Jason, I remember party lines and rotary dial phones. We only had one phone in our house (in the living room), so everyone listened to your conversations when you talked on the phone. All phones were black back then. When the first "decorator" phones came out, they were all tan - real spiffy!

Jason,

What a fantastic photo! Talk about dramatic!!

I DO remember crank phones. My first car phone was built into the car and had a transciever in the trunk. It cost
$4000 and my first month phone bill was $500!!

Thanks for the post

Phil
