It's a Stormy Day in Hernando Beach, Florida!  But the "Showings" must go on!

Wow.... it's been a stormy day in Hernando Beach since early this morning.  Waking up to thunderstorms with heavy lighting and torrential downpours this morning, the wind and rain is blowing in from the Gulf of Mexico and apparently is going to move clear across the State towards the East coast.

Stormy Weather in Hernando Beach Florida by Silvia Dukes

We already got four inches of rain earlier this week so that the ground was somewhat saturated.  Thus far, another 3.5 inches of rain fell and the parking lots across Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach are starting to flood.

Yet, REALTORS are a tough bunch, there are still showings being scheduled for this morning and personally, I hope this weather will improve by this afternoon when I have to brave the elements to take out buyers on showings myself! The showings must go on!

I guess it could be worse though!  My friend Ken from Canada calculated for me that four inches of rain at about a 9:1 compression ratio or expansion would be about 36 inches of fluffy snow, or about 8 inches of slushy stuff!  Now I would not like to shovel that!

Good Morning Silvia, Wow that is a bunch of rain. One thing I loved in Fla was the soft gentle type of rain but I see that is not what you are having. We don't have rain here very much and it is an event when we do. But because the people in CA don't know to drive in the rain, it is really not very safe here driving in it. Cars seems to hydoplane and for sure that is a problem. I sure don't envy you having to show property so I hope that the Buyers appreciate your efforts and Buy a home today. All the best with your showings today!

Palm trees rising out of "36 inches of fluffy snow" would really make for some interesting pics! Any time it rains here in the desert I like to stay home. Because it's so infrequent, a lot of drivers don't know how to handle it.

William, as "luck" had it, my buyer and I decided that it would be best to wait for drier weather for the showings, so I was able to conduct all other business at the office!

John, now that's an intriguing concept but I really would not want to see our palm trees standing in snow!

Tony, it's calmed down a bit and hopefully, it'll continue to improve and stay dry!

Hi Pat, thanks!  Whatever the weather, sometimes we just have to rearrange our plans and adjust but there's always something to do...

Yesterday was crazy! My team was amazed that we had no phone calls this morning from tenants about damages, one house in particular was on the beach and we had reports of the gulf flooding their street in Tampa. Still, I love Florida and even the rainy days are stunning! I love your photos!

Valerie, good for  you that your properties are ok. Although there was some damage in some areas, it always looks so much worse on the news!

Silvia, it reminds me of showing a house one time under cold rainy weather with strong wind, actually the storm was on the way.  I personally will not cancel any appointment because of the weather, but if the client wants to reschedule, I will reschedule as requested.  They ended up bought a house from me ;)

Rather than taking an umbrella, I wear a baseball cap that says Charles Rutenberg Realty on rainy days! It works wonderfully!
