Organize your social media posts

Time is something we all seem to run out of too quickly.  Social media has created a real boom in marketing yourself to potential clients as well as keeping in touch with past clientsFacebook and Twitter are two of the largest social media websites that I believe all real estate professionals should be using.  But who has time to post on all of their social media sites while taking care of family matters and keeping clients happy?  While you don't want to inundate your Twitter followers or Facebook friends with duplicate content, there are some great apps that allow you to post to Twitter and Facebook at the same time.  Here are a few of the ways you can organize your social media posts and maximize their benefits:

Selective Twitter
Follow me on TwitterWith the Selective Twitter app, you can post specific types of tweets to your Facebook profile to share with your friends.  It also works in reverse as well.  You can use Selective Twitter to post your Facebook status on Twitter if you like.  By using the hashtag #fb, your tweets will automatically get posted on your Facebook wall.  That way, you determine which tweets to share with your Facebook friends and fans instead of having everything go to Facebook.

Twitter App
Facebook's official Twitter app syncs your Twitter account with your Facebook account.  Anything you post to Twitter will automatically be posted to your Facebook wall.  The only things that don't get posted are any of your direct messages or @ replies.

Smart Tweets
The Smart Twieets app is similar to Selective Twitter in that you can decide which of your tweets get posted to Facebook.  However, it will also allow you to post retweets, @ replies and specific hashtags if you wish. You just need to allow the app to access both accounts.

Linking Your Facebook Page to Twitter
Become my Facebook friendYour personal page isn't the only one that you can link to Twitter.  Link your Facebook business page to Twitter quickly.

Third Party Sites for Posting Simultaneously to Both Accounts
There are several third party sites that are completely independent of Facebook or Twitter that allow you to post to both sites at the same time.  In fact, all of these sites allow you to post to LinkedIn, MySpace, Plaxo and other social media sites.

Ping.fm can post to as many as 32 different sites at the same time.  You can even get a mobile version of Ping.fm so you can use it while you are on the go helping clients realize their real estate dreams.

Hoot Suite is one of my favorites.  At the present time, you can only post to Twitter, Facebook (personal and business pages), LinkedIn, WordPress, MySpace, Foursquare and Mixi.  But, they are always adding more social networks all the time.  They even allow you to post to your Ping.fm account.

Connect with me on LinkedInThe greatest thing I have found with Hoot Suite is that you can schedule a post for different times, days, months and only post to whichever accounts you select.  So, if you have an open house coming up, for example, and you don't want to send out what amounts to the social media equivalent of an email blast (ie, one post sent to several sites at the exact same time), you can decide to post it on Twitter Monday at 3:15pm, Wednesday at 7:45am and Friday at 5:20pm but post on Facebook Tuesday at 12:20pm, Thursday at 6:35pm and a reminder on Friday at 7:40pm.  You can also schedule posts on your Facebook business page so that they don't coincide with the posts on your personal page.  That gives you a chance to reach your audience at whatever time they may be looking.  It's very flexible that way.

Seesmic is a download you can place on your computer's desktop or upload via mobile smart phone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, etc) for those busy real estate professionals on the go.

TweetDeck can be downloaded to your computer, iPhone, iPhone Touch, iPad and Android.  As of right now, you can post to Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Foursquare, Google Buzz and MySpace from your TweetDeck account.  You can also attach videos or photos easily from your computer.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to organize your social media posts and maximize their effects on marketing your real estate business.  No one can be everywhere all the time.  But, with these helpful apps and sites, you can make it look like you are.  Contact me if you need help with getting your social media organized.

Pam you've got a winner of a post here!  This is great information for those who aren't quite up to speed on how to make it all 'sing' together and/or don't have much time to make it happen (that would be me right now!)

Good stuff!  Featured in BananaTude!

Hi Brian - If you go to any of the websites I mentioned, you'll find great instructions and information.  And, as usual, just let me know if I can answer and other questions or help in any way.
