In a couple of short weeks the golf fans of the world will have their eyes focused on Augusta, Georgia home of the 2011 Master’s Golf Tournament. The Master’s is the World Series of golf and many a golfer has be raised to glory or lowered to a devastating defeat.
The mental anguish is what separates the have’s from the have not’s. Predetermined game plans and the analyzing of every blade of grass, stroke, and weather condition in order to achieve the ultimate prize, the coveted green jacket that will be presented by last years champion. Let’s not forget the $1,350,000 of the other type of greeen.
The men that will be a part of this tournament and I have some things in common. For starters we both earn a living doing something that we love and are good at. Most of us over think different situations
and are all scatch golfers. Hey, I scratch the top of my head every time the ball leaves my club.
Where was I? Oh, yes over thinking. This past week I had a listing appointment where the seller never once asked me a question. Nothing, zip, nada, zero not even what was my fee. I started questioning myself. What did I do wrong? How come she didn’t say anything? Why didn’t she ask about my fee? I’ll bet she has a Realtor and was only interviewing me as a formality.
I decided to contact Barbara Todaro and bounce the scenario off of her. She told me not to over think the situation and just give them my best when I went back to meet with them.......yes, I broke down and did a two step no comment on this please.
When I met with the seller I asked her if she had already made her decision because I had never had an appointment where I wasn’t asked any questions. She said no with a puzzled look on her face. She then asked me what kind of questions I was expecting? I explained she never asked about my fee and she responded back “ doesn't everybody charge the same?” I gave her my answer and then asked what I apparently forgot to ask at our first meeting. “Have you ever sold a home before?” She answered this was her first time and wasn’t really sure what she should be asking.
Looks like I three putted this one by over thinking. I hope the ball my sign still falls in the hole.
Don’t over think your next Hinsdale real estate purchase, let me do the thinking for you.
