Chastain Park – Atlanta GA's Largest and most INCREDIBLE park!

Chastain Park - Amazing Atlanta Recreational Facility Sign Post - Photo By Michelle Francis - Buckhead RealtorThere are parks and there are PARKS!  Chastain Park nestled in the North Buckhead suburbs is QUITE a park.  How many parks boast a public golf course, horse park, concert amphitheater, top notch sports programs (including Baseball, Softball, T-ball, Football, & Basketball – Northside Youth Organization or NYO), tennis courts, community swimming pool, playgrounds, arts & crafts building and a walking/jogging trail?  I can’t think of another park in Atlanta that begins to compare!

Chastain Park evolved from 268 acres of farmland in North Atlanta with the goal of becoming a premier showplace recreational area in Atlanta envisioned by Troy Chastain – then a member of the local Atlanta Commissioners.  The main part of the park was developed in the 1940’s and when Chastain died, the park was renamed in his honor!  Today, it still stands as a testament to one man’s vision of a heck of a recreational facility!

Chastain Park is the largest Park in Atlanta.  Let’s take a walk through the highlights of the park.

1.   Chastain Park Walking/Jogging Trail – commonly known as the PATH sees a ton of folks exercising, strolling or walking with friends on a daily basis.

2.   Chastain Park Horse Park – known for it’s therapeutic riding, as well as horse shows, it’s a tremendous asset to the area.

3.   Chastain Park Tennis Courts – home to some awesome ALTA, USTA and junior tennis academies, it’s been totally redone in 2010!

4.   Chastain Park Golf Course – a fabulous 18 hole golf course

5.    Chastain Park Concert Amphitheater – yes, awesome concerts from top talent held under the stars with tables as well as stadium seating that allow for an incredible experience of dining and enjoying incredible music.

6.    Chastain Park Playground – a huge part of the park is a large playground with additional space for throwing a frisbe or just hanging out with friends

7.    Chastain Park – Northside Youth Organization – (commonly called NYO by the locals) offers incredible youth sports – from Baseball, Softball, & T-ball in the spring and fall to Football and Basketball as well.  There are college campuses that don't have fields this nice!

8.   Chastain Park - Community Pool - Photo By Michelle Francis - Buckhead RealtorChastain Park Swimming Pool – home of North Atlanta Swimming Association who in the early 1990’s worked on the pool to turn it into a lovely community pool with an amazing swim team and a fabulous pool facility.

9.    Chastain Park Arts Center – from Art Shows to classes to summer camps, this facility is deceptively small from the front, but stretches far back to house quite a complex.

10.   Chastain Park Community Picnic Pavilions – Last but not least are the less known Picnic Pavilions for family and friends to gather with a large covering.

It’s no wonder why the other 1000 acres that were used to develop a residential area around the park are so darn popular.  Besides these amenities, Chastain Park is within 15 minutes of downtown and about 30 minutes to the Atlanta Airport!

Are you looking to live in Atlanta’s top park area?  Feel free to call or e-mail, we know Chastain Park!

Check out our new listing at 258 Meadowbrook – just ½ mile walk to the park!

WOW .... that is some park! Nice local post and loved the sign. It reminds me of our directional signs to tell folks where our wineries are.

Cynthia,

We've lived in the area 25 years and some days you take all of this for granted.  It's an amazing park area!

Wow, Michelle!! I bet that homes in the Chastain Park area sell VERY quickly.  What a way to spend the weekend - just walking around enjoying everything that park has to offer.

Juli,

They do sell quickly here.  There is almost no inventory in price points under a $1 Million!  Or it's going UC very quickly.  This will be the first area to come out of our housing challenge for Atlnata!

All the best, Michelle

I went there back in 1999 when I was in Buckhead as part of my fifth anniversary celebration. We did a lot of traveling that year.

By the way, you have a shout-out in my March 31 Pay It Forward Google juice (part 8) post.

Michelle, 268 acres with a lot to do!  Great that it has a pool and golf course.  Seems like there is no excuse to not use that park.  I'd love to have those trails near by!

Good Localism post!

Wow, that is a park... Horse trails? I'm not sure there is a public horse trail here. I'm going to have to check in to that. You have me curious.

Russel,

Glad you got to see it in person, it keeps improving, so come on back ya'll:-)

Doug & Gloria,

Seriously, it's amazing and it's a hub of activity.

Todd,

Well - a horse park, not so much trails, although there are riding rings and jumping areas....

All the best, Michelle

Someone told me that Atlanta now has the nation’s largest aquarium, although I’m sure Monterey and Shedd will be planning something new. You should go, take some pictures, and share them with us, too!
