STORY EXTRAVAGANZA AT NORTHEAST BRANCH LIBRARY WILMINGTON NC

Image of Once Upon a TimeIt's starts with the simple line, "Once upon a time . . ." and before you know it, a child is lost in stories of far away lands and excellent adventures.  Do you remember the first time you realized books could take you places?  I do.  It was Nancy Drew and The Secret of the Old Clock.  Before I knew it, I was riding along with Nancy, Bess & George in her little blue convertible, solving mysteries and going on adventures.  Ah, books, where would we be without them?

Help ignite a love of reading, music and the art of storytelling with the little ones in your life at the Story Extravaganza on Saturday April 16th, 2011 10a ~ 12p.  It's a Storytelling Festival for children!

The Story Extravaganza at the Northeast Branch Library in Wilmington NC will feature live performances by local artists, storytellers and musicians like:

Get lost, and found, at the "Once Upon a Time" maze, get your craft on at the arts and crafts station sponsored by the Children's Museum, or just enjoy some great live performances.  It promises to be a terrific time for everyone!Image of Free burst

The first book I got lost in?  And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street!  I remember imagining all those great things happening right out in front of our house.  This is going to be a great event!

Tish ~ Ah, my love of Nancy Drew books (I secretly still read them)  Teaching children to love reading is wonderful because it becomes a secret journey they can do alone with every new book they read ~

Somehow certain childhood books stick with us. My mind holds The Shy Stegosarus of Cricket Creek in a place above all others. Sure, I read the Hardy Boys and Rennet Dessert, but I can still feel the texture of that one book.

Karen ~ So do I!  CA still has all of her originals and is anxiously awaiting the day Zoe is ready to read them.

Glenn ~ The scent of our local library remains with me.  Such a lovely memory.
