crocus flowers blooming

Spring is reluctant to arrive here in West Michigan this year.  Our grass is still brown and

the landscape is winter bare - except for the Crocus!

The little crocus bouquets that are scattered around my gardens are pushing their way

up through fall leaves and other winter debris.  When the sun shines, they open up and

shine forth with brilliant color.  One of the welcome harbingers of spring!

Weird name, beautiful flower.  At least it is a sign for you that Spring is trying to arrive.  I have had my first few roses blooming and everything is budding in our warm weather.  It is such a relief to be done with the winter.

LOVE those!  Amazing colors!  I don't see those around here, I'm thinking it gets too hot here for them.

Hi Bonnie and Terry,

Just a beautiful shot, the orange and deep purple are magical together.

Subtle hints that spring has indeed sprung!

Have a wonderful weekend.

That's a real nice burst of color! Hope they don't get snowed under this weekend.

Samantha: We are sure hoping spring brings warm weather.

Denise:  Thanks, the yellow ones show up in the yard better but the dark purple is my favorite!

Judi: Too bad they are so small, you have to have a close up  to appreciate them.  Thanks for commenting.

John:  Just rain and sleet so far today....

Hey Bonnie and Terry, What a gorgeous photo. I love crocus too as they are the first blooms to make an appearance each spring.

It always surprises me that every one isn't green and yellow with all of the pollen like we are!  Spring is SPRUNG here - Wysteria is out, Dogwoods in perfect bloom... I'm thinking Easter is so late it will be well past the tulips and daffodils we associate with it!

Eleanor: We are in the mid 40's today with a chill wind blowing.... generous rain storm yesterday has finally started our grass greening up. No leaves on trees, no true spring yet!
