Transformation (Home Staging in Houston, TX)
The thing that draws me to Home Staging is the transformation. I love the visual change in a room after it is staged, and experiencing the change in the way the house feels too. I also get a kick out of buying not so attractive items and transforming them into fun staging props.
Recently I bought a T.V. at a resale shop that was priced at $25. The lady who appeared to be in
charge of the shop was explaining that she couldn’t guarantee the T.V. would work. I told her I didn’t care if it worked, and she said, “Oh I’ll give it to you for $10 just to get it out of here”. Bargain!
Now a T.V. is kind of heavy even if the screen is only 19”, but I knew I had an upcoming staging project where the T.V. would be perfect. Still, I knew the T.V. could be better and lighter. No need to work harder than necessary, right? My darling Yetti (a.k.a. my husband) removed the picture tube for me. That took care of the weight issue, but now I’m left with a rather ugly T.V. shaped box.
Yetti suggested I put a picture where the tube used to be. Good idea except I had to be careful not to do anything that would distract from the room I was staging. While Yetti cut a piece of Plexiglas to fit the box, I searched for a picture to use. The room in question was going to be staged as an exercise/massage room so I wanted to keep that theme in mind. After painting a black border around the Plexiglas to frame the picture, we put everything together. The piece de resistance is the LED light that is plugged in behind the screen. I’m delighted with the result.
