10 Things to Do this Spring in Boston

After an especially snowy and cold winter there are so many things I look forward to doing this spring in Boston. I recently told my dear friend in Florida that I wonder how many pounds us northerners gained this winter since we have been cooped up for so long. It is time to get out & about. It's great fun to visit your own home city as if you were a tourist. Here are my top ten things I long to do in no particular order.

1.) Go to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. I definitely will be eating a Fenway Frank (or two!). Fenway Park is open but the official opener is April 8th as the Sox play against the hated New York Yankees. For some fun facts about Fenway Park, visit http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ycn-8199167. For a schedule of games & tickets, visit www.redsox.com.

2.) Visit Faneuil Hall for some great people watching & shopping. Visit http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com to find out about upcoming events & visitor information.

3.) From Faneuil Hall I would take a walk to the North End for a great lunch or dinner. One of my favorite spots is Maggianos where I would partake in a fabulous pasta meal with a nice glass of sangria. To drool over the menu, visit www.maggianos.com. From there I would go directly to Mike's pastry for some cannolis and eclairs. Visit www.mikespastry.com for more info.

4.) I have been wanting to check out the new wing at the Museum of Fine Arts called The Art of the Americas wing. There is also an amazing looking Chihuly exhibit starting on April 10th. Chihuly is a famous blown glass artist & the exhibit looks so vibrant and colorful. Visit http://www.mfa.org/ for more info.

5.) Every Spring I love to visit Ryles Jazz Club for their amazing Sunday Brunch. The music is fabulous and the food is excellent. Visit http://www.rylesjazz.com/ for more information.

6.) Recently there was a show on Chronicle about all of the new shops on Newbury Street. I would love to take a stroll to visit Fish & Bone to see what kind of treats await my cats and dog. Visit http://thefishandbone.com/ for more info.  I would also stop in at Sweet Cupcakes and bring home some treats. Visit the website at http://www.sweetcupcakes.com/. My favorite hair stylist, Ed Blee is there at Persona and I could really use a new spring look. http://www.personasalon.com/

7.) While on Newbury Street I would take a stroll to the Public Gardens where I would hop on the Swan Boats. From there I might visit Cheers (properly pronounced Chee-ahs if you have a Boston accent) to have a beer (bee-ya.) Visit www.swanboats.com & www.cheersboston.com

8.) It has been a family tradition to cheer on the Boston Marathon runners with my mother & grandmother every year since I was younger on Patriots Day. I have a few friends running for different causes & will go show my support. Visit www.bostonmarathon.org/ for more info.

9.) I love the theater district! In May Cirque Eloize iD is coming to the Wang. There is no better way to spend an evening than watching contortionists and acrobats perform their magic. Visit http://www.boston-theater.com/theaters/wang-theater/cirque-eloize-id.php for tickets and information.

10.) I have to admit that I have never had a meal in China town. I don't really know what to recommend as far as this goes. Perhaps one of my readers can make a recommendation for me.

Tell me, what are you looking forward to doing this Spring in your area??

Thanks for the suggestions, we will surely try most.

Enjoy your evening.

Excellent! If you want to see a lot in a day or two another thing I would recommend is getting tickets for the trolly tours. You can hop on near Fanueil Hall. They hit a lot of these spots and you can jump on and off at your leisure. Enjoy!
