Unique Offline Advertising Strategies and Setting Myself Apart is something I think about on a daily basis. Back and forth, back and forth you hear the constant argument of is paper dead. Will offline advertising in magazines/newspapers/flyers ever make a Realtor money again? Sure, it'll make you some money. Just not the money it would have made you years ago. You'd have to be buried twenty feet in the sand to not realize the effects that the Internet has had on advertising and marketing. Everybody who's anybody is all over the Internet and using it's powers to advertise and reach people all over the world.
All of this is great and as a Realtor I use the tools at hand to make sure people in the area in which I sell know my name and my brand. I've only been doing this about 5 months and when I walk into the grocery store, restaurants, or movie theater I'm assured someone in there will call me Marge (even though I go by Margie) because that is what I dubbed myself, Marge at Large. Even still, I want more.
Problem? Just a bit. Little thing called money. It's great that people know my name when I walk in somewhere but so far that hasn't fiscally paid off. It will. It will just take time. Until then, I have to find ways to continue to market myself that do not cost a lot of money but are equally as effective. In making these attempts I hope to assure anyone that I come in contact with that I will work very hard for you.
That being said, the Masters is taking place in Augusta this week and Augusta is about an hour from where I live. Due to the incredible golf in the area, Lake Oconee is hopping and there is lots going on. Months ago I started thinking about what I could do to make sure I reached as many people as possible this week. There is a major highway that runs right from where I live to I-20 which is the interstate every single person in town will travel in order to go to the tournament. So yesterday I spent about four hours and used up 45 cans of spray paint to create a unique offline advertisement for myself along the highway!

Will it pay off? I hope so! If willing to share, what are some interesting things you've done to market yourself in your particular area?
