Stanislaus County Real Estate - Why Live in Stanislaus County?
While I am a Stanislaus County Short Sale Specialist I also live in Stanislaus County. I have lived here my entire life. (And that's a long time) There actually is a lot of history in Stanislaus county and the near by foothills of the Sierra Nevada range.
In eastern Stanislaus County is the small town of Knights Ferry. Knights Ferry is on the Stanislaus River and was established in the mid 1800's as a ferry crossing. The ferry was eventually replaced with a covered bridge. The covered bridge that still stands today was built in 1863 and spans 330 feet. It is the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi River.
Today the bridge is closed to all but foot traffic. There is now a very nice park on both sides of the river and trails along the river banks. This is also the "put in" area for several local rafting companies. The area is famous for it's white water rafting excursions. The area is also famous for having been the location of filming for Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza and many movies.
Although most days I am busy listing and selling Stanislaus County Short Sales I am still happy to tell you about why I love living here. The trip to Knights Ferry is less than an hour from Modesto or Turlock. It's a great place for a picnic or a destination for a leisurely afternoon drive.
