Why use QR Codes? Because they are...

Why should you use QR Codes? Because they thought it might be a good idea...

What is a QR Code?

QR code (short for Quick Response) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.

Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. QR is the abbreviation for Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

Great info and nice pics, Coady.

Any thoughts on Google's announcement on March 31 that they are ending support for QR Codes in favor of Google's NFC?    http://linkd.in/gNwX2s and http://linkd.in/dK9TR2

@David: No Problem!

@Fred & @Mike: Just google's ego taking over... there is no way all these brands will switch to just use google's "Imbedded chip" its just for their android products. You will see them change their ways. They did the same with Microsoft outlook on their android when first released and then realized the huge percentage of users use outlook for work and wouldn't use the android.

@Sue & Robin: Thank you!
