Brevard County Fair is in Town

The third annual Brevard County Fair began March 31 and runs through April 10. It will be held at the Wickham Park Pavilion on the Brevard Community College Campus.

The fair has fun for all ages. There will be carnival rides, music, and singing. There will be a horse expo, a 4H competition and a poultry show. And what's a fair without a chili cookoff?

It promises to be a great time for the whole family.

The fair will also host several seminars including a gardening expo, cooking with herbs, and catching fish.

Fair hours are 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM Friday, 12 Noon to 11:00 PM Saturdays and 12 Noon to 10:00 PM on Sundays

Bring 4 nonperishable food items for $2.00 off of fair admission.

Meet me at the funnel cake booth.

Harry, You're right, the fair is a great time for the whole family. There's so much to do and to see there. I'm not much for the rides anywhere, but I like to see the livestock and all of the animals.

Richie, Ahhh, the fair foods.... so much to choose from, and so many give me an upset stomach. I have to be careful, so I only get the funnel cake and share it with friends.

Michael, It's been a good turn out so far. The parking lot has been packed. I think I'll head over this weekend.

Barbara, Cold weather still? That's terrible. Yesterday we had some overcast skies and a bit of rain, but today it cleared right back up. High will be 77, with some wind. It's pretty. I'll think of you when I'm eating my funnel cake.

Kathy, Seems that everyone would like some of the food. That's one of the great reasons for some to head out to the fair - for the food. You know, I'm not really too fond of heights. So I probably won't be on the ferris wheel either.

Gary, You always know what's going around here. Great job! Sometime you'll have to get back to Brevard, and enjoy some of the fun events. You're right - typically there is always something to do.

Leilani, It seems that you and I are always talking about food, doesn't it? Well, will I see you for funnel cake, because there are about 4 others that would love to have some funnel cake too. Wouldn't it be fun if everyone could come?

Simone, Oh, you headed to the big fair that used to be held in Cocoa off of 520. Those were fun times. We were probably there at the same time and didn't even know it. Did you like the rides? The only other place I know you can go around here for funnel cake is to the flea market in Melbourne, off of Eau Gallie Blvd, west of I95.

Hi Paul, Too funny - you're a riot! :-) Uncle Charley spent last week in Lakeland to see the airshows. The Blue Angels were flying. But, one day last week with all of the torrential weather, there were tornados that touched down at the Lakeland airport. Several planes were damaged. Thank goodness, no one was hurt. This week Uncle Charley is on his way with some buddies to hit 4-5 different cities to catch baseball games in all of the cities. He's a traveler. And that man never, ever stops for a minute.

Agreed, Lou. It will be a good time for everyone.

Myrl, I have to agree with you. Our state fair was held in Tampa earlier this year, and it is huge! The county fair is done on a smaller scale, it's only 5 minutes from home, on most of the time we see everyone we know there.

Hi Gary, Wow $525 at quarters? That's great - I bet he was tickled with that! That really makes it worthwhile. I've never known anyone that made money there. My daughter won a goldfish last year at the fair -lol. Poor little thing didn't live very long. though. The Indian River Festival will be a great event. And, watch for the fair in WooHoo. Gary said so!
