What makes a "good" Short Sale Negotiator?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Lien Search Pro

I've been asked before "what makes a good negotiator?" and my answer is actually rather simple.

Top 5 Negotiator traits in handling short sales

1. PATIENCE

2. DETERMINATION

3. FLEXIBILITY

4. BULLDOG AGGRESSIVENESS (when needed)

5. EFFICIENCY

6. Did I mention Patience? (hold music can be harsh!)

Now I'm asking you - what do you think makes a good short sale negotiator?  What traits do you look for when determining who to place a short sale deal with?

I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions!

Morris - Excellent point!  I send out weekly updates to the Realtors and parties involved in the transaction, and contact them as needed throughout the week with "critical event updates" as they occur.

Communication is one of those key points that will make or break a deal.

Keeping the parties informed keeps everyone's head in the game and you have a lesser risk of loosing the buyer if they are kept involved in the process, especially if it is a lengthy one.

Who You Work With Matters!

Hi Pat - Good to hear from you.  I agree with Morris, keeping customers and realtors updated weekly is important.  Otherwise we feel like we fell into the black hole of Short Sales.  It was great working with you and hope you are doing well.

Kari,

I changed companies in February and am very happy with them.  Looking forward to working with you again!
