Austin Urban Fest And Texas Relays April 9th, 2011 Auditorium Shores

In conjunction with University of Texas Athletics, the city of Austin, and various local business, the Urban Life Group has scheduled the 6th annual Urban Music Festival during Texas Relays Weekend. The Texas Relays is one of the oldest and most prestigious track and field events in the country. The Texas Relays celebrates it 84th anniversary, with such luminaries as Carl Lewis, John Wesley Jones, and many other Olympians participating.

The Relays, with attendance of 60,000 is the second largest track and field event in the country, only trailing the Penn Relays. The explosion of visitors to the Austin area for the last twenty years, led to the creation of the Urban Music Festival. The festival is a collection of music, food, and games for children.

This years lineup of music includes Jay Lamont and Charlie Wilson. Prices are $25 for general admission, $5 for children 7-12 and free for those 6 and under.

Hi Scott...I used to really enjoy watching the Texas Relays. It is the most prestigious tract event in Texas history, and those Great Former Olympians will draw large crowds too!

Scott, that sounds like an event that I would have really enjoyed.   84 years....that's a long time.   The music festival sounds like a nice addition to the races.
