reduce...RE-USE!!!

If there's something I love, it's a repeat use for an item I already have. I just love useful things. You know, that one item that you some how use for everything....whether or not you should. I always end up doing things like that in my kitchen. A certain recipe calls for me to use ____, which I may or may not even be sure of what it is. So, I decide to use ____, and it works out just fine (most of the time!). Lucky for us, Real Simple has swooped in and given some brilliant ideas of ways to use things we probably already have laying around the kitchen!

1. Need to level that flour? Use a chop stick!

2. When you are making a pie crust and need something to weight down the center to prevent puffiness, place some foil in the center and top with coffee beans. Ta-duh!

3. Out of silver polish? Use baking soda! Combine soda, a dash of salt and some boiling water and you are home free.

4. Last minute center piece: cake stand with candles on it!

5. Old veggie/tomato/etc cans make great biscuit cutters when you are trying to cut circles out of dough.

6. So you made all those cute cupcakes. How are you going to get them to the party? Use a gift box with little "x's" cut out to stick the cupcakes in. Works like a dream.

7. Did you run out of muffin liners again? Try aluminum foil! I always get halfway done with my muffins and then realize I forgot that I ran out of those the last time. This is a brilliant solution!

8. I've done this more than I care to admit: Use a colander as a flour sifter.

9. Have trouble with candles falling over in the cake and getting it waxy? No more! Stick the candles in lifesavers to give them the support they need.

10. Last but not least, the wine bottle rolling pin. Classic.

I hope you get as much pleasure out of these little nuggets as me! If you don't, you should try looking at our houses on College Station Real Estate or College Station Houses!

This is so great.  Who knew there were times when a lifesaver could save the cake!
