What is 100% of Nothing ?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty One Group, Inc

Many more real estate agents work on 100% commission as compared to 50%, 75%, 85% or even 90% and most pay a monthly fee as well as a per transaction fee to cover costs and E and O. I always think to myself being on a 100% program . . . . . . What is 100% of nothing? Well as best as I can figure it's nothing, zero, zilch, nothing. Let me explain to you how to turn your zeros into a good monthly income.

To those of you that are afraid of the word "NO" you shouldn't be . . . . . . . there is two ways to make a lot of money being a better than average real estate professional. Dress the part, and act the part and soon you will that person. Let people know what you do for a living, if you can either wrap your vehicle and promote yourself or at least buy a magnetic sign as big as your car door. Invest in some professional looking high quality business cards. Don't print your own on your computer; unless that's the image you want to put across. Get a lot of cards, make sure your picture is on them, and for goodness sake don't use that picture of you and your dog. Not everyone likes or loves dogs as much as you do; it's not at all professional.

Most important thing to remember . . . . . . it's not about you, it's about them. Also 1000 business cards will cost about $50.00, 2000 about $65. And 5000 about $100.00 maybe a bit more, get as many as you can afford. Give everyone you know, meet, or come in contact with one or more cards. When you go out to eat, go shopping, buy gas, drop off your laundry, have your car serviced and on and on and on. Hope you get the idea. Now listen carefully . . . . . Go into your office and get to know the people that work there. Don't have any listings; ask to sit other agent's homes on the weekends. Select homes that are priced well and show well, also make sure that they are easy to sign and are in good areas. Location, location, location . . . . . it's true. Have cookies, water, ice tea, lemonade, and don't be cheap and buy day old stuff. Use glasses, and not paper cups, this will allow you to know the people that show up.

Don't start asking the same questions that the stupid agents ask, also remember it's not about you it's about them. Ask them are you out looking for homes to buy in this area . . . . . . Allow them to answer, and listen. Are you currently working with another real estate professional? Again allow them to and listen for an answer. I was wondering if you might be interested in a new HomeFinder program our team has just started this past month. You know as fast as technology is progressing we realize that it is important to provide the most up to date information available to our clients. This new program involves getting some basic information and establishing some perimeters for a search that matches all of your criteria. Every day our computers search all of the new properties that match your specific criteria and it forwards this information on to you. So you see this information as soon as the information is entered into the MLS by any office. Many times you will get this information before most of the other agents see it.

Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Get their information and know that you are well on your way to building a client base. Sell a little $100,000. home every two weeks and if you are on a 100% plan you would be earning  about depending on your fees $5,500.00 that would help pay the bills. Hope this helps a little, it is my objective to just pay it forward a little.
