/Bad News on Ventura County Property Tax Bills
If you own real estate property in Ventura County, including but not limited to Oxnard, Ventura, Camarillo, and Port Hueneme, then the good news is you have an extra day to pay your property tax bill. Yay!!
The bad news is you still have to pay it. Boo!!
If you are like me and don't have an impound account (where these fees are included in your monthly payment) and you procrastinate until the last possib
le moment to give local government your hard earned (or as yet unearned) money, then you will be happy to note that "someone" goofed at the Ventura County Assessor's Office.
Ventura County Property taxes are due on December 10 and April 10. However, if the date falls on the weekend or a holiday, then the property taxes are due on the next business day.
This year April 10 falls on a Sunday.. so taxes are due on Monday, April 11, 2011 right? Wrong! Someone- and no one is claiming responsibility- printed on the tax bills themselves that they are due on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
So now the Ventura CountyTax Assessor's Office is saying that they will honor what is on the bill~ April 12. Well no duh!! Just try and make it any other way.
Does it make you wonder, just a little bit, about the accuracy of your tax bill...I'm just saying.....
