Where the Buffalo Roam in Connecticut . . . Sunday Photos
When our country was young, Buffalo roamed the western plains in very large herds. They were the primary source of food for the Indians and their hide were prized and collected to make fashionable coats and hats.
They were almost hunted out of existence. It was quite a surprise to me recently to be driving along a road and see a couple of buffalo just grazing in a pasture here in Connecticut.
These 2 didn't have a care in the world, and they were just content to wander the meadow and chew up some of the early sprouting grass.
Central Connecticut was never considered one of the open plains where the buffalo roamed, but on this day they were just fine.
