A big heartfelt Thank you to Dr. Greidanus and Wayne Kauffman for sharing their adventures this morning at our breakfast meeting. How inspiring to hear about the 39 operations changing lives. The man up the hill and the lady being carried in a chair..wow! What an amazing feat and story. We are so proud of you all. The Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview and EMAS Canada want to thank you for your financial contribution to the success of the 14th Operation Esperanza Medical and Dental Mission to Cuenca, Ecuador. This year the team was made up of 52 people including 36 medical professionals who performed 39 hip and knee replacements as well as 15 surgeries on children with club feet and dislocated hips. They saw about approximately 250 patients in consultation. The dental team provided dental care to many poor children in rural schools. One day the dental team went to a school at 9700 feet and had to climb the last part of the mountain carrying all their dental equipment. Dr. Tom Greidanus arrived home on February 2 and says, “During our time in Cuenca we were privileged to witness what can only be described as minor miracles. Our team members left Ecuador with a deep sense of satisfaction and of mission accomplished.”
