Crofton's Flowering Trees in Pictures - What Are They?

By
Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

Old Crofton has a reputation for its stunning display of blooming cherry blossoms along Crofton Parkway each Spring, but they're not the only flowerering trees to beautify our neighborhood.

Crofton Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms line much of Crofton Parkway, thanks to the efforts of early residents in our community.

Bradford Callory Pear Trees in Crofton

The white blossoms you see along other sections of Crofton Parkway and in many areas of Crofton are Bradford Pear Trees.

Dogwood Trees in Maryland

Dogwood trees can be found scattered throughout the community in either pink or white.

Magnolia trees in Crofton

You'll also see the brilliant color of magnificent Magnolia trees in the yards of some homes in Crofton.

You'll also find these same trees throughout the newer areas of Crofton, beyond “the triangle”.   Now, with the help of these photos, you'll probably be able to recognize them when you see them.

Your exceptional images bring back memories of a glorious Magnolia tree in my former backyard in DC. In the winter, I would always be up on a ladder (not supper smart) clearing any heavy snow off the limbs to make sure the blossoms would be there in there spring. Thank you!

The Cherry trees aren't in bloom just yet - but we have them in meidan along Mamaroneck Ave. heading into the city.  Very beautiful during the spring.....

Margaret - flowering trees certainly add some wonderful colour to any street scape ..... One of these years we will have a lousy spring market and I will get to travel down your way to enjoy yours.

Take away the pollen and this is by far the best season of the year. Pretty pics.

Dear Margaret,

Thanks for mentioning your safety post in your comments about Miss Okland.  I hope that you will re-post your suggestions.

All week I have been taking photos to do the same post as your tree flowers!  If I do it - now will everyone think I am copying you?  You are - of course - someone to follow but not by duplicating your post!  Well,I'll have to figure this one out!

Have a happy day -
Lynn

Hi Margaret, I really love these trees that you have featured. These trees in bloom create so many oohs and aahs and they represent a true Spring Extravaganza. Well done!

It is a blaze of color right now in Maryland. A shame all this rain is spoiling it!

Kathy - Every year at this time, I pick up the phone or write a note to one of Crofton's original residents to say "thank you" because it was her vision to line Crofton Parkway with flowering trees.  This would be quite a different neighborhood without her making this happen for us to enjoy decades later.

Billi - I hear yah!  About that pollen...

Lynn - I'm sure your local readers never saw my post, and who cares if other Activerainers think that.

William - Spring is bursting out all over, and it's always a sight for sore eyes!

Ellie - Yeah, what's with that?

Patty - 'Hard not to smile at the sight of spring, isn't it?

Kathy - I generally pick up the phone and call her, or write her a note each spring... 'just goes to prove the impact one person can have in a community

Rita - Oh no... Snow?  I'm so sorry.  Hopefully spring is just around the corner for you.
