Some Wise Words from The Authentic Agent

Wise

Don't you just love it when someone says something so wise, yet so simple that you slap your forehead and say - "I wish I'd thought of that... and why didn't I?"

Last week we did a teleseminar show in the SWS Virtual Studio called "The Authentic Agent," led by my good friend Dennis Giannetti. The tagline of the show was that we would to help real estate agents "create balance in their checkbooks... and their lives." Neato Frito.

During the show, Dennis came up with some great little phrases that had the audience saying "Aha... now THAT makes a lot of sense!" Thought I'd share them with you...

AHA QUOTE #1
"There's no such thing as Time Management; only Choice Management. We all have the same number of hours in every day and there's nothing we can do to "manage" those hours. What we can control (and "manage") are our choices. What do we CHOOSE to do within those 24 hours and are our choices getting us closer to our goals?"

AHA QUOTE #2
"We've all heard 'Don't dwell on the negative stuff in your life, just keep doing the right thing and everything will work out.' Yada yada yada - I know, a positive attitude doesn't pay the mortgage, but what's the alternative? A negative attitude? Will THAT get you closer to getting the mortgage paid?"

AHA QUOTE #3
"Stop making a daily To-Do list; instead, make a daily To-Be list. What do you want to BE at the end of this day?"

AHA QUOTE #4
"Instead of simply asking 'How do I become successful?' every morning ask yourself 'What do I need to do TODAY to feel successful tonight?' Do this every day and the compounding affect of your daily steps toward success will astound you."

AHA QUOTE #5
"Why focus so much on your weaknesses? Absolute best case, if you work diligently on improving a weakness, you might become 'pretty good' at it. But if you focus on strengthening a strength, you'll be exceptional."

Good stuff, eh?

Oh, Bob Burg (www.burg.com), coauthor of The Go-Giver will be my guest in the SWS Virtual Studio next Thursday! Have you registered yet??? www.SellwithSoul.com/go-giver.

It always sounds so simple, I find myself asking why am I not doing this? I like number 4. I can def think of days where I finish the night thinking, what a waste of a day. It always feels better to finish the night thinking about how successful that day was.

I like the term Choice Management.  I have lots to do.  The issue is figuring out what is the most important.

My favorite is #5. In some ways I keep trying to be "like other agents", however I have achieved a fair bit of success by being me. So maybe I should continue being me and improving on me, rather than trying to do things other agents do.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm new to your group but love it already.  I tend to think I know all of this stuff but your description of "Choice Management" really rings true for me.  I like to try to do everything on my to-do list which might be possible, but I can choose to do the things that are most important.
