I am pretty sure there are fish there Scott, but you can only get to it by hiking about 5 miles.. and about up about 1,400 feet in elevation too.

Alexandra, it is  a VERY pretty spot, and it is in NJ... Just not an easy place to get to.

Wow, I can't believe that there is a place like this in New Jersey.  Guess I have never ventured off the New Jersey Turnpike (which is not a very pretty place), except to go to Cape May or Wildwood.  The place you are in the photo is gorgeous.  What part of NJ is it in?

I would not have "pictured" this being in New Jersey - when I think of New Jersey, I think of subdivisions and city life. Looks absolutely peaceful and beautiful. Hope you had tons of fun & re-energized your batteries!

I don't see any srub pines so are you're either in north Jersey at High Point or some place in the Kittatinny Mountains??  The comments (#6 & #7) crack me up!

Debbie, too many people think of NJ as being the turnpike view by Newark Airport.. the most UGLY side of NJ, the vast majority of NJ is MUCH nicer, including the beaches... We have some of the nicest beaches in the world (other than the tropical ones...)

Yes Susie, it was last fall...

Carla, Yup it is NJ!

OK everyone else, here is the answer: Sunfish Pond, on the Appalachian trail.  The AT enters NJ at the Delaware Water Gap, thats about 5 miles up the AT in Worthington State Forrest.

The end of the month I will be backpacking a bit farther north on the AT in Stokes State Forrest.  NJ has much more to offer than most people think!

Up until now, the Appalachian Trail was just something I read about in history books a long time ago. Thanks for sharing a beautiful pic!

I don't know where yo are in that photo, but it sure looks gorgeous.  I haven't backpacked in several years, and I don't think my back would hold up to do much any more, but I'm looking forward to some car/tent camping when the weather settles down.  There's still a lot of deep snow in them thar hills!

you were close Laura!

John, The AT cuts across the NW part of NJ for 20+ miles... I will be hiking another piece of it in two weeks, Hopefully there are some pretty spots like this one!

Susan, The right pack, and paying attention to ounces makes all the difference when back packing.. That and a bunch of Scouts that give you a reason to go and even camp in the snow!

I’m going to say that you’re in the United States of America, although you could have gone to Canada for the weekend. Am I close? JJJJ

Beautiful shot. This is not the image I had of New Jersey.  You will have all of us visiting the area.

Rob - WOW!!!  What a gorgeous shot!  Like some of the others, I have seen so little of NJ and would have never thought this in NJ but now that you mention the Appalachian that doesn't seem so unusual.

Donne, Just got back yesterday from another backpacking trip... a bit farther north than the shot above, 9.5 miles the first day... and a quick 4 miles back out the second... and I still feel it!
