By

Frederick Md residents and visitors celebrated the 2nd Annual Frederick Wine Festival this past weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 9th and 10th. The 2nd Annual Festival, held at the Frederick Fair Grounds, drew a larger crowd that the previous year, and vendors were very happy with the event.
The Frederick Wine Festival
There were several local wineries and vineyards represented this year, with live music from 4 different bands.  The weather cooperated beautifully; all in all it was a great time.

The Frederick Basket Company

The Frederick Basket Company

Several local Frederick businesses were there, selling gifts and food, cheese and baked goods.

The Frederick Basket Company was present with lots of great wine-related gifts, gift baskets and one-of-a-kind gifts.

I tasted some great goat cheese from Caprikorn Farms Goat Cheese.  (Went great with wine:)  Lebherz Oil & Vinegar Emporium was present with theirgreat vinegars and olive oils.

Linganore Winecellars at The Frederick Wine Festival

Linganore Winecellars

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by 2 wines that I had not discovered before:  The Terrapin White, fromLinganore Winecellars, I had to bring some home for a light Spring meal, maybe chicken or fish.

I experienced a new taste from  a mead that is made with honey. There were 3 types of Honey Mead from Orchid Cellar Winery.  The 2 spicy varieties, “Archer” and “Castellan”, tasted like a nice Port. The “Beekeeper” was a nice floral. What a surprise.

Other wineries present were Loew Vineyards, Frederick Cellars, andDistillery Lane Ciderworks.

Isabella's Delicious Paella

The Chef from Isabella’s in downtown Frederick was standing by with an enormous pan of their delicious Paella! No one wants to sample great wines from 7 local wineries on an empty stomach:)

So I see they had some cheese to go with that wine...;) Seriously, it looks like a great time for all. The Frederick Basket Company had a nice looking booth.
