Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

This program is a federally funded program that benefits low income families.  HEAP may help you pay for coal, electricity, kerosene, natural gas, oil, propane, wood, or any heating element. 

Eligibility is based on your monthly gross income and cannot exceed HEAP income guidelines.  Income qualifications can be seen HERE.


HEAP Representatives will be at the Azusa library auditorium, 729 N. Dalton Ave., Azusa, CA 10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m., to sign up low-income customers for one free month’s electricity on the following remaining dates:
April 18, 2011 - Tomorrow
May 2, 2011
May 16, 2011 - by appointment only. Call (888) 329-4612. This will reduce wait times.


Please bring:
Applicant’s Social Security number
Original electric bill (current)
Original gas company bill
Copies of all household income (past 30 days)
Copy of a valid California driver’s license or California picture I.D.

Dee, I hadn't heard about HEAP - sounds like a great federally funded program.  Great job for posting it - I hope some people who could use the help hear about this.

I am glad too that these programs help so many.  In this case not having to pay your electric bill for a month can give you a jump start for the next month.

How true, how true.  People look to government for what I call 'survival assistance', and programs like this can provide albeit modest support for those in need.
