Unrealistic Reasons People Give Me Asking Me To Short Sale Their Home

By

I have been given so many reasons why someone should short sale their home.  Let me give you some of the reasons:

1.  My house is upside down, I can afford the payment, I just don't want to pay it.

2.  My neighbor sold his house as a short sale, I should be able to also.

3.  I am angry with my mortgage company, I want to just short sale the house.

4.  I am tired of working, do you think I could short sale my house like everyone else.

5.  I just want to short sale to my brother and then I will still live here and save $150K and no one has to know.

6.  Why can't I short sale my house because I make $250K a year and my payment is only $1500.  It is still underwater and I shouldn't have to pay for it. I will make them take their house back.

These are only a few reasons that people give me that want to short sale their home.  Sometimes the reasons are just not good enough.  To short sale your home you must be in financial distress and there are guidelines to follow for qualifying for a short sale.

I someone needs assistance in deciding if they qualify for a short sale, please contact me.

Stella, it is amazing the mood that people are in concerning a sense of entitlement and wanting to get out from under their home for the above mentioned instances in your post.  Good for you holding the line!

Wow, #5 and #6 are incredible! Why would someone think that a Realtor would go along with such obvious schemes? Some people...

Funny how some people justify it. I've heard a lot of crazy reasons too.

Hello Stella,

I can understand a seller having some misunderstandings about a short sale, but effectively asking a real estate professional to abuse this process is absurd.

Torgie - I know, that is what I deal with sometimes.  Crazy isn't it.

Jennifer - It is crazy isn't it.  I could never be involved with such unethical behavior but what happens is that they end up going to other people that may do it.

Sam - I have their addresses and I will check the MLS periodically to see if anyone does take the job.  That will tell me about those agents if any take these on.

A year ago I was at a seminar given by Wachovia where they said they did not care about hardship, they would do a short sale at market value for anyone who wanted. that was before they were officially absorbed by Wells Fargo. I am sure that policy has changed.

Marcy - I did not know that Wachovia was doing that.  I have not had any short sales with Wachovia before they were merged with Wells Fargo.  I have a love hate relationship with Wells Fargo when it comes to Short Sales.
