A little Friday levity!

Leesa Finley and my Cheeky Assistant, Cinnamon, have been making my Friday's a little "brighter" with some music (?) from the 80's.  They have delighted in sharing songs like, "It's Friday I'm singing nonsense words and making a mint!", "Jenny something or other, please answer the phone so he'll shut up!",  "Blue Highway" by some guy who thinks he's an idol.

I've had to fight back, people.  Had to dig deep and find a song to make them a little nuts.  (You'll get that in a minute!)

When my husband and I got married back in '74 we were so wealthy we decided to spend our millions by taking the Cape May Ferry to NJ.  It was a glorious 3 days.  That's the kind of vacation you take when you're rich like we were.

On the way over, my husband, who had a wicked sense of humor and delighted in embarrassing me, sang the following song to me.  Nice and loud; in front of all our fellow passengers!  I was MORTIFIED!  I'm a good Baptist girl, I never heard of such a thing!  I did not believe it was a real song.  I was wrong.  It's a real song.

Leesa, CA and anyone else who could use a giggle -- ENJOY!  Happy Friday all!

Tish - thanks for reliving "courting" day. Saturday nights on the Newfarm Ferry on the Brisbane River. Back and forth at 10 cents (for two) per trip of 10 mins a trip and a 20 min wait for the next ferry. Probably ten years before your hysteria. Life was a lot less complicated then ~ even without the song. Have a great Friday.

Tish, certainly not, it would've been boiler-makers or nothing in '74.

Tish ~ I think I would have also been mortified if my husband sang this song to me too, especially out in public ~ I would have cherished the moment anyway!!

Frank swooned me with oldies when we met in '74 ~ Our wedding soon is "I only have eyes for you"

Kevin ~   I would have had NO idea what a boiler maker was!

Sonia ~  He was a bit of a stinker!

Donna ~  He was pretty funny in this one.

Karen ~  I was genuinely embarrassed.  He could "name that tune",  tell you the artist and the year. (By the way, his name was also Frank.)

Charles ~  He got me good!

David ~  That is quite a little ditty!

Tish:  I was 28 years old in 1972 when this song by Chuck Berry hit the charts.  It may have been a hit... but to me, it was more of a "gimmick" kinda song... rather than a real "rock n roll" song.

It came many years after most of the songs he is more well-known for. Roll Over Beethoven is one that jumps out at me.  It was recorded by the Beatles and the Stones, and many other classic rockers. And... all of those early bands say that Chuck Berry was a great influence on their musical styles.  Berry, and also Buddy Holly, as well.

Some of his other hits were Maybellene (which hit #1 in 1956), Johnny B Goode, and Rock and Roll Music.  All of those have been recorded by many, many later artists.

Also... if you watched the movie Back to the Future... remember the scene when Michael J Fox was playing the guitar on the stage... and "scooting" along on that one-legged skip-hop he was doing?  He was doing his best "Chuck Berry" imitation.

Chuck Berry is 84 years old now, and is still performing in live concerts.  Whew !

Ron ~  Honestly, we do have our moments and some of them are VERY intense.  All-in-all, we have a pretty good relationship and some terrific laughs.

William ~  Needed to send you a laugh for a change!  Thanks, it makes work much more enjoyable.

Karen Anne ~  Chuck Berry has quite an interesting history.
