This Should Get The Attention Of Every Real Estate Professional

By
Real Estate Agent with Classic Realty Realtor

When I was Managing a Real Estate Office in Northern Michigan, we had regular meetings for Realtors® and Staff. At least twice a year we would have a discussion about Realtor® Safety. This is a time when we would bring in Law Enforcement officials, have group discussions and promote how we would endeavor to stay safe when working both inside and outside of the office.

Why am I bringing this up now? I just read this recent event that should grab the attention of all of us in the Real Estate profession. The article: Agents urged to review safety in wake of Friday killing . . .

I know the above topic isn't what we want to talk about as Real Estate Professionals, but failure to do so and having a plan with a safety net in place, can cost - sometimes cost a Realtor's® life!

Remember to pray for the family of this young lady, a Realtor® simply doing her best to serve her clients.

David, how that article pains my heart. Thank you for posting about safety. A lot of times people don't think about this or realize this until it is too late. I am going to re-blog your article because a lot of the realtors I work with are dear friends, and I hope this grabs their attention.

David, How sad for this young woman and her family.  We should at all times be thinking of our safety.  And there is definitely safety in numbers.

David,  Very good reminder.  It is so sad what happened to this Realtor.  We have had quite a few incidents in Denver of late.  I am lucky that I work in a team with Will Hamm.  With two of us, I feel much safer, and plus,  he does all the open house signs.

Yes David, we can never be too cautious.  We do take our daily activities for granted and shouldn't. My Dad always told me to 'keep your wits about you', it always sounded funny to me, but more and more I understand what he was saying.

Oh so sad and tragic!   It brings chills to my spine.    I know I take extra precautions when showing to a new client!   We have to watch out for each other!

Safety was one of the classes in our course. We should all keep safety in mind while we are working.

Something like this happens, we all are more careful for a while, then we get comfortable, relax, take short cuts, and something like this happens again.  David, You are so right, failure to plan is planning to fail.  Above all, trust your instincts.

David, not say that this is necessarily the answer, but it has saved lives...many agents in my area carry...protection!!!

Great blog David and a necessary message after the horrible tragedy of that young Realtor's death. things aren't like they used to and we have to change the way we do things and protect ourselves at all costs. She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.
