Wide Angle Lense for a digital camera....

What to do?? I have been looking at different digital cameras trying to decide what is the best for my pocketbook and business.

I have found one I really like because of being light weight with interchangeable lenses. The wide angle lense is what I am particularly interested in. I would love to be able to take a picture of a small bedroom and see something besides a corner if you know what I mean.

the Sony NEX-3 14.MP Camera with Extra Lens: 16mm Wide-Angle Lens is my favorite but it is costly.

regular $849.98 on sale for $699.98

OR

The one for a lot less $$....

Sony DSC-WX9 Cyber-shot 16 Megapixel Digital Camera

For only $219.99.

I know you get what you pay for but I would value some feedback from people that actually have one of the cameras or have the knowledge of what I should be looking at.

I really wanted to stay around $500 but guess what. That is a hard thing to do....

When talking with camera sales people they are not much help for me.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to have a picture of every room for our Listings. Actually I would love to be able to take a great picture of a large room to show the size off as well.

Please help.....

Good post, let me know what you choose and how you like it. I have been considering the same things. The lower priced camera looks like one Walmart is carrying and it is 24 or 25mm wide angle and thats not bad.

Nancy,

Anytime I am contemplating a camera, I go to DPReview.com and see what the reviewers have to say.
They seem to be spot on with their reviews.

And I think that 16mm wide angle is a little too wide for most users.  Barrel distortion starts at 18mm, it seems.

Thank you so much for that information. I will definitely check out that web site!

I use  fisheye lense for my virtual tours and it does distort the picture in the long run. My clients like it anyway. Anything to please my clients.

Nancy,

That is interesting, as I have heard many comments from buyer clients who dislike the fisheye photos that distort the images of the home.

But, whatever works!

I'm ready for you to buy the camera, so I can borrow it. ; )  I think the wide lens will make a huge difference for a small room. Your right, you do not want a photo of a corner in the room.
