Chattahoochee Bend State Park, the first Georgia state park in Coweta County, should be opened to the public in July 2011.
Construction on the facilities in the 2,900 acre state park is complete, and volunteers are working hard on trail construction through the remote areas along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
The biodiversity of the park is represented by various ecosystems including river flood plains, freshwater marshes, pine and hardwood forests, and granite outcroppings. The number of different species of flora and fauna surpasses any other natural area in the county.
The proximity of the park to the majority of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area should make Chattahoochee Bend State Park one of the most visited in the Georgia park system.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park will offer unique recreational opportunities for all that choose to take advantage of it.
An official opening date should be announced soon.
