Poppy's Tea Room is a delightful new addition to our dining choices in the area. Located across the bridge in Huffman, you'll find Poppy's is just what a tea room should be!
We walked in the door to be greeted by the owner, Kathye Sargent. She showed us around the tea room and explained we could select where we'd like to enjoy our lunch. There were cozy rooms, like the library, set up for two with wing-back chairs and privacy or the Texas room that was open, airy and done up in our state flag. We selected a table for two in an area decorated with girly-girl stuff. Bows, ribbons, red-hat goodies & more. Kathye mentioned shopping while dining and we were hooked!
The menu is simple. For $7.95 you get the following:
- Soup of the Day (we had potato soup - an actual bowlful)
- Sandwich selection on Croissant (the chicken salad rocked!)
- Chips
- Cookies
- Cheesecake Bite
- Pot of Tea (apricot was perfect!)
The ambiance in Poppy's invites you (and Kathye does too) to relax and enjoy your lunch. Don't rush. Have a great conversation with friends. Poppy's Tea Room also offers High Tea. It is $11.95 a person with 4 courses. You need reservations to partake in this ritual. Homemade scones are part of high tea. And Kathye was kind enough to make that part of our experience too. I know I'll be back for the High Tea after tasting those scones! 
Groups are welcome. Kathye has had several Girl Scout troops visit, and she has done etiquette class with the girls also. Needless to say - the big girl groups, Red Hatters, are welcome too!
